Race Info & Registration

Since the inception of the Velocity Challenge at Sun Peaks Resort; the main goal has been to host a speed skiing event in which all skiers can participate in a safe and structured venue. The objective for all competitors is the same: to go as fast as you can on a pair of skis!

To many of the uninitiated they perceive this as going to the top of the track and letting ‘em go, this is not the case. Safety is the main goal of the race organizers and to ensure this the following event structure is adhered to:

  • The Headwall track has 4 starting points

  • All racers must start at the designated starting point and gradually work their way up the track as the event progresses

  • During each run racers will be under the watchful eye of a 4 member competition jury

  • The jury will evaluate each run and only when a racer has shown that he or she is stable from that start, they then may proceed to the next start

  • At no time may a racer go higher than the jury will allow

  • A racer that is deemed unstable by the jury in three consecutive runs will be cut from the race for their own safety.

  • All jury decisions regarding racer cuts are final.

  • A full list of event rules will be given out at registration.

  • All racers must have a valid FIS number to compete at the Sun Peaks Velocity Challenge/FIS World Cup.

Contact Adam Earle: adam@velocitychallenge.com or phone 250-578-0207 if you need assistance with obtaining a FIS number prior to the event.

Please note: Due to the unique configuration of our track and finish area, we cannot allow snowboarders to compete in the Sun Peaks Velocity Challenge & FIS World Cup. This is a safety issue only as we do not intentionally wish to exclude anybody from our event.
